Awesome little Tripod, camera holder thingy

We'll I'm sure you've seen these by now. I bought one after seeing it on our retail store. This is a great little tripod and camera hanger. It molds and twists and grabs on to just about anything. I've used it on my little Sony camera and my parents Flip movie camera. It works great as a camera tripod/holder thing. Where I really enjoyed having this was when we went hunting. I was able to set this up and then take shots with my dslr. It folds down very small and it adjusts to just about anything. If you don't have one...get one there great and will improve your pictures greatly.

The Jeep

Well she's not the prettiest jeep in the world, or the quietest, or the best ride, BUT it's mine and it does it's job very well. What is that job you ask? Well that's to deal with the country roads so my Audi doesn't have too. Add the fact that I was really missing having a Jeep and this is what I got. A friend at work had the bike rack so I threw that on pronto. Next is a half sized basket if I can find/make one. It gets decent gas mileage and has made" all ready. The boys want me to paint it this summer and we may get to it at some point but for right now I'm just enjoying having something I can bounce around in the pasture with.

The Springfield Armory XD 40 - first thoughts

Last year I received a CZ p40 for Fathers Day. It was a great little pistol, with only one down fall. No availability for magazines. So when a great deal came up on a Springfield Armory XD 40, I just couldn't pass it up. I traded the CZ in on the XD. Magazines are readily available on the shelf and it feels great in my hands. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find Heinie Straight 8 Slant Pro tritium night sights. Which I just happen to have on my PT1911 that I shoot uspsa meets with! It was a used gun, but it was still in the paper it comes in from the factory. All the fun bits were still there, two mags, mag holder, holster, and even the test round. There was evidence that it had been fired before. There were some marks on the feed ramp. Other then that however it looked brand new. After waiting out the rain for a week or so I finally got a chance to shoot it. It shot well. I didn't do anything spectacular with it, but I shot well. It will make a great backup to my 1911 at meets. Heck I might do double duty and shoot both one weekend at a meet.

Checking in

Well it's been a long time since the last post. Lets see what's new. I've started shooting a lot more. I missed my regular SPE outting this year. I'm heading to Seattle in June to see my Sis. I have hopes of starting a gun club here in Sidney.
I'm in a good relationship. My kids are growing like weeds. I have a personal goal of camping 10 times this summer. I really want to get back to reviewing products. That brings me a lot of satisfaction. Hopefully I'll keep up better this year.

Late night lightning

I got off work the other night and we had a huge host of storms all around us. After some heavy debating(with myself). I threw some camera's in the Jeep and headed off. The view was amazing. The storms had wrapped around me so that for 180degrees there was nothing but lighting. Over head was clear deep blue sky with specks of light. It was somewhat unreal. I took pictures as long as the batteries in the cameras held out. Which wasn't long, cause someone had forgotten to charge them(me). The moon started to rise and then things really got cool. Here's a few good shots from the night of the 21st. The moon is the orange glow on the left hand side of the clouds.

Bike riding to work in the morning

Riding to work this morning was phenomenal.  There was a heavy heavy fog and at 5:30 am only a bit of sun peaking up in the east.  I was barely out of my door and I could tell it was going to be one of those rides.  The type of rides that reward you for getting out the door when you think you would have rather drove.  Riding in the fog was awesome.  A little scary I'll admit too.  Knowing cars will have less of a chance to see you.  It was like riding in a holo-suite of some sort.  like being enclosed in a 20 yard sphere of white haze for the first couple miles.  A little further and the top came off the dome.  The the east was a distant glow from the sun and to the west a full moon descending into the fog.  I stopped once to get all the condensation off my glasses and pull he bike in too the small ring up front(no front der. yet)  I did a steady 10 mph up the hill.

There is one thing I wish I could do.  I wish I could program my brain to try as hard to dissuade me from eating that bowl of ice cream at 10pm as it does trying to get me to drive instead of bike.  I'd be a different man if I could.

Father's Day Suprise

My newest toy. My father bought this for me on Fathers Day this year. Thanks Dad!! It's a blast to shoot. I'm hopefully going to have a fun shoot coming up soon. 3-d targets, shoot-n-see's, and if I can get my butt in gear some metal knockdown one's also.
